Walls that Unite
A collective work in low-relief ceramics, handmade by artists from different continents. Five panels, one for each continent, each measuring 1.20 by 2 metres: placed side by side, they form a six-metre gate. Each panel is born in one country and replicated by the artists of the others, so that over time every city in the network builds its own complete gate.

The skill of the hand
The project draws on UNESCO's principles of cultural diversity. The artists work together for weeks: they prepare the slabs, carve the low relief, then fire and assemble the panels. The workshop is open, and passers-by are welcome to stop, watch and ask questions. The work remains on the wall; what the project truly produces is collaboration between people of different languages and faiths.
The World Gate is coordinated by l'IsCaPI within the Pitagora Mundus Programme. Its partners are the Municipality of Belvedere Marittimo, the Associazione Agorà, Galala University in Egypt, the Municipality of Luis Beltrán and the Province of Río Negro in Argentina, and the Crown Institute in Nepal and Australia. Artistic supervision is entrusted to maestro Enzo Molino.

The Programme's parameters
The beauty of the World Gate lies in clay carved by hand and in the signs of different cultures on the same wall. The utopia is a gate built together, panel by panel, until every city in the network has its own complete gate spanning the five continents. Happiness lies in the open workshop, where artists, students and passers-by work side by side or pause to watch, and in the unveilings that bring distant communities together.
