The network worldwide

Partner countries on several continents, a network of Pythagorean Cities.

A Pythagorean City is established by an agreement between a university or public institution, the local Chamber of Commerce and the national government. Partner countries select the participants, support their stay in the village and host Italian delegations in turn.

From Calabria to the world.

The Programme works in two directions. It welcomes students, teachers and artists from partner countries to Calabria, and in turn sends Italian students, teachers and artists to the universities and Pythagorean Cities of the network for periods of study, teaching and performance.

2009

Theatre exchange · Canada-Italy

From Waterloo to Cosenza, from Cosenza to Waterloo.

Students from the University of Waterloo Drama Department spent sixteen days in Calabria and on 7 and 8 May performed Differ/End: The Caledonia Project, which they wrote themselves, at the Teatro dell'Acquario in Cosenza.

Artists from the Teatro dell'Acquario then spent fifteen days in Canada, where they presented The Adventures of Pulcinella, a commedia dell'arte puppet show. At the time l'IsCaPI was based at the University of Calabria, which is why the university appears in the Canadian records of the exchange.

Le Muse project · Calabria-Patagonia

From Calabrian land to Patagonian land, and back.

With the Province of Río Negro the Programme carried out Le Muse, a comparative study of the two peoples' sense of belonging to the land.

From 27 January to 23 February a Calabrian crew travelled across Patagonia, from Viedma to Allen, El Bolsón and Bariloche, meeting farmers, fishermen, artisans and Mapuche communities. From 1 to 25 July the Calabrian-Argentine team travelled through the villages of the province of Cosenza. The result was a documentary in three languages, an anthropological research book and a photographic exhibition.

Here the Italian language and culture school, advanced training and festivals take place among the village's houses, squares and palazzi, and students live in homes in the historic centre.
