Every Thursday, the village becomes a stage.
The Matrioska Music Festival - Borgo Spettacolo brings music to the squares of the old town of Belvedere Marittimo every Thursday from May to October, with the exception of August. Jazz, classical music, world music and opera alternate week after week. The festival is conceived and promoted by l'IsCaPI within the Pitagora Mundus Programme, under the patronage of the Municipality of Belvedere Marittimo.
The name recalls the Russian doll that holds, one within the other, ever smaller figures: evening after evening, the audience uncovers a new layer of the world's musical cultures.

Four Thursdays, four languages
A month of festival is a complete journey.
Each month the festival travels through all four genres, always on a Thursday and almost always in Piazza Palmento, at the heart of the old town. Admission is free. Calabrian artists share the stage with musicians from other regions and other countries, and the Programme's international students staying in the village are part of the audience.

Beauty, utopia and the pursuit of happiness
The festival's beauty is live music in the places of the old town, from jazz to opera. The utopia is an audience that moves across genres and cultures without borders: the Neapolitan tradition beside Miles Davis, the taranta beside the string quartet. Happiness is the evening shared, every Thursday, by residents, guests and the Programme's students.
First Thursday of the month

Artistic direction by Gianni Avolio. Established artists and young local talent, from the classic trio to jazz-rock and pop jazz.
Second Thursday of the month
Classical music
Curated by Rosa Antonuccio: a programme that brings together the traditional repertoire and young performers.
Third Thursday of the month
World music
A journey through the sounds of the world and of the South, with Italian and international artists.
Fourth Thursday of the month
Opera
Again under the direction of Rosa Antonuccio: opera and the classic Neapolitan song in an accessible key.
With the Summer Peace University
Summer Peace Music Festival.
During the Summer Peace University 2025, music entered the Chiesa del Crocifisso in the old town, with two concerts under the artistic direction of Rosa Antonuccio, in collaboration with the SPU partner universities.

In summer 2024 the concerts in the old town accompanied the Pitagora Mundus Summer School, under the patronage of the Municipality of Belvedere Marittimo.
